Help bring identity, desktop delivery, and security to a large naval enterprise.
Microsoft service: 1999–2003 · EDS / HP / HPE service: 2003–2016
These are company service periods, rather than the dates of a single continuous NMCI engagement.
The program
The Navy Marine Corps Intranet (NMCI) was a large-scale effort to provide shared enterprise IT services across the Department of the Navy.
My progression from Microsoft PSS technical work into MCS consulting, including ROSS engagements, led into NMCI. I contributed first as a Microsoft team member and later continued NMCI work with EDS, across locations within the continental United States and overseas.
Active Directory at enterprise scale
I helped implement Microsoft Active Directory across a very large enterprise environment. The work connected directory and identity services with the practical demands of deploying and operating infrastructure across a major institution.
Secure desktop delivery
I helped implement Terminal Services at large scale for secure desktop deployment in an environment spanning multiple security domains. This brought desktop delivery, infrastructure, and security requirements together as part of a much larger program.
Security across classified and unclassified networks
I helped develop security solutions for classified and unclassified networks. My work also included large-scale solution architecture documentation and NIST SP 800-53-aligned packages for NMCI solutions, connecting implementation with architecture that people could review.
A contribution across two periods
These were contributions within a broad team effort, spanning distinct Microsoft and EDS periods. The Microsoft feature traces the technical support and consulting foundation that led into this work.
NMCI helped shape my progression into enterprise architecture: connecting identity, desktop delivery, security, and documentation with solutions an organization could deploy and operate.
